On Sunday 29th May DCGR had a Greyt Day Out at Damhead Kennels and it really was a GREAT Day Out for everyone!
Over 20 greyhounds and 1 Borzoi were on show at the kennels in Tinwald near Dumfries with the opportunity for lots of Greyhound chat, coffee & tea and magnificent home baking. There was an amazing greyhound sales table, a fantastic tombola and the challenging greyhound agility course, not to mention gorgeous countryside walks and the opportunity for a safe run about in the enclosed field. All this and more fun contributed to a wonderful 3 hours courtesy of Viv and Matt who generously opened their Kennels at Damhead for our use.
And how do you measure success? Is it the number of greyhounds who found loving forever homes on the day? 3 Homeless Hounds found their forever home with another 2 strong possibilities. Is it amount of cash raised? Over £315 was raised for the greyhounds that day from generous donations. Or is it the enjoyment of those in attendance? A definite YES to that from everyone involved.
And when we received the Charity collection tin from the Kennels a few weeks later there was a marvellous £145.20! As always our thanks to Matt and Viv (thats Viv with the beautiful Borzoi in the main picture) and thanks to everyone who donated.
In every way an excellent event and if Viv and Matt are willing, we are hoping it could be an Annual Greyt Day Out! DCGR would like to put on record our huge thanks to Damhead Kennels for sharing their lovely facilities with us and hosting the event, our thanks to all those who organised the event and of course many many thanks to those who attended to make this such a successful experience.
See you again next year!
