This year’s Great Global Greyhound Walk is racing towards us! Join us on Sunday, 28th September, 2025 at 11.00am in Carlisle.
This annual and worldwide event, celebrates greyhounds and sighthound breeds in general, inviting thousands of dogs and their owners to come together across the globe, raising awareness of these gentle, loving breeds and showing what wonderful family pets they make.
The DCGR walk is being held in Carlisle, Cumbria and we’re inviting as many sighthounds, owners and greyhound lovers as possible, to join us for a walk round Bitts Park including the Sheepmount Athletic Stadium, following the River Eden and back to Carlisle Castle for refreshments.
We start from the Castle Car Park on Devonshire Walk, CA3 8UL, ready to set off for 11.00am. Parking there is around £2-3 depending on your stay and specific location links are below.
The walk heads into Bitts Park from the south. Crossing the River Caldew we pass the Athletic Stadium heading for the River Eden, which we then follow along a lovely woodland path, taking us back into Bitts Park. The total walk is around 2 miles long.
Facilities include toilets, parking, play areas and the marvellous T&G Cafe on the way back for both human and doggy ice-cream, snacks and drinks.
And this year’s goal is to take a group photo which will be the cover of our fabulous 2026 DCGR calendar! Our previous photos are above but let’s make this year a record breaking attendance!
Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
