Welcome To The Dumfriesshire And Cumbria Greyhound Rescue Website

Rehoming Greyhounds Since 2002.

We find new, forever homes for retired or injured ex-racing greyhounds.
We never put a healthy dog to sleep and will look for the right home for as long as it takes,
caring for all aspects of their welfare until then.
Please have a look at our homeless greyhounds and contact us for more information about adopting or fostering.

Can You Offer A Homeless Dog A New Start?

We have rehomed over 2,000 dogs in just over 20 years but there are still greyhounds waiting for safe and loving homes.
Do you have room in your heart and home for one of these gentle animals? They need your help.

We are a registered charity entirely staffed by volunteers who raise all our own funds for the greyhounds in our care.
You may not be able to adopt a dog, but could you help us in other ways? Contact us to get involved.

Loyal, Loving, Relaxed & Gentle.

Contact us today for more information on living with a greyhound.

You might be surprised how easy they are to care for and how affectionate they are to live with.

Adopt a greyhound with our help. Make a new best friend and change their life forever.

Our Dogs Currently Looking For Homes

Bobby Is Our Dog Of The Month

Looking for a loyal shadow, a cuddle connoisseur, and a walking buddy rolled into one sleek, sweet package? Meet Bobby, a 3-year-old greyhound who’s ready to trade in kennel life for a forever sofa.

Adopt

Have a look at the greyhounds we have currently waiting to be adopted. Could this be your new best friend?

Foster

Could you help prepare a greyhound for its new life by sharing your home with a dog as a foster carer?

Volunteer

Our Charity is run entirely by volunteers. Could you spare a few hours to help us and the dogs in our care?

Donate

Could you help us with a donation? Everything we raise goes to help the greyhounds. DCGR have no paid staff.

What We Do

We look for forever homes or foster places for retired or injured, ex-racing greyhounds. We never put a healthy dog to sleep and will look for a home for as long as it takes.

We raise all our own funds through events, donations and sales in our charity shop. All our staff are volunteers and all our income is used for the welfare of the dogs in our care.

If you see a greyhound you might like to join your family, or would like to get involved, please call us on 07873 381470 for a brief, no-obligation chat to find out more.
