Record Breaking Great Global Greyhound Walk – 24th September

Despite the forecast of heavy rain and strong winds, we had an amazing turn out of 59 sighthounds in Dock Park, Dumfries, to take part in our local contribution to the annual Great Global Greyhound Walk on Sunday 24th September. We surpassed our own 2022 record and globally 11,818 sighthounds were walking in 36 countries. A fantastic achievement.

The majority of dogs at our own walk were DCGR rehomed greyhounds and their forever families and we welcomed hounds from throughout Dumfries & Galloway, Cumbria and even Northumberland. A huge thanks to everyone who braved the weather reports and travelled amazing distances to be with us on the day.

As you can see from the videos and photos we had a fantastic walk, met new and old friends and celebrated all things greyhound with the brilliant dogs who were so well behaved and marvellous examples of the Greyt pets a retired racing greyhound makes.

We are already looking forward to next year’s walk which is scheduled for  Sunday 29th September 2024. See you all there!
