This walk is around the remains of Hoddom Castle near Ecclefechan, Dumfriesshire, DG11 1AS taking a circular route along a golf course on the banks of the River Annan, then back through sheltered woods to the Castle.
We start from the public car park just past the turnoff for the caravan park. From there a private path takes us along the main Castle Caravan Park Driveway and down to the River Annan. Following the natural curves of the river to the side of the golf course, we are lead back through a wooded path into the Caravan Park facilities.
The route is mainly flat and around 2 miles long. Facilities include parking, toilets and a cafe/restaurant selling drinks and ice-cream. Appropriate footwear and clothing required as the river paths can be wet and muddy. We look forward to seeing you there!
