Dalbeattie Makers Market – 2nd September

As the Summer rolls away we were delighted to find such good weather to greet us at the most recent Dalbeattie Makers Market where we have a regular stall on the first Saturday of the month in the Dalbeattie Parish Church Hall. The 2nd of September’s event also saw our inaugural Coffee Morning where we had an additional refreshments table for the event visitors with all the proceeds going to the Charity.

There was an amazing range of stalls and visitors as ever and whether it was the good weather encouraging people to come out, grab a bargain and stay for a cup of tea, we are delighted it was such a successful day.

Between generous visitors and Greyt Sales, there was nearly £270 raised and on its way to the greyhounds in our care who are waiting for their forever homes. Plus a fantastic opportunity to remind people what wonderful companions and well behaved pets Greyhounds can make too.

Our huge thanks to our amazing “Cafe” volunteers Emma, Dee, DCGR’s Kevin and Robert and as ever to the amazing Margaret with her sales table. And if Emma looked familiar serving you at the Coffee Morning, she is indeed the fantastically hard working and generous Emma Maxwell of Kirkgunzeon Canines who was there not only to make a huge donation to DCGR (see more about that in the next news item) but as ever supported us even further, helping out on the table.

Of course it was the the Greyhounds who drew in the crowds and the 5 stars of the show were Ruby, Lexi, Bertie, Rhys and Honey (with Richard above being their attentive staff!) who were busy meeting and greeting their tiny paws off. Well done all the hounds.

Many thanks to everyone who assisted on the day, stopped by to chat or just turned up to support with special mentions to Robert for organising the Coffee Morning part of the event, Emma and the fantastic hosts on refreshment serving, Clare and Linda from the Market for making us so welcome and birthday boy Richard for coming along with Bertie.

We are already looking forward to doing it all again next month, so hope to see you all on 7th October at the Hall.
