Our Volunteering Team

DCGR is a Committee run Charity and all committee officers are nominated and appointed by the membership at the annual general meeting.
They are expected to build and maintain collaborative relationships between all members, supporters and volunteers to further the charity’s aims. In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined below, appointed officers also act as legal trustees of the charity.

Kevin Hugill

Committee Chair

Ensures that the charity and its officers comply with charity good governance guidelines and charity law.

Acts as a representative of the committee and bases their actions on the decisions of the management committee and membership.

Nominated as the registered landlord for the flat (situated above the shop) tenants.

Graham Hill

Committee Secretary

Charity Co-Founder, Membership Secretary and Events Organiser.

Organises and administers committee meetings and the AGM.

Manages correspondence and liaises with other people and groups that could help DCGR achieve its goals.

Keeps records of memberships, manages required information and acts as primary point of contact for charity and rehoming licensing registration regulations.

Viv Little

Rehoming Co-ordinator

Committee Officer and primary point of contact for enquires and decisions regarding the incoming, rehoming, and fostering of dogs.

Manages decisions regarding dogs’ veterinary care in line with DCGR polices.

Keeps records of dogs as required by licencing.

Kevin Clark

Committee Vice Chair

Deputises for the chair in their absence.

Carries out duties of the chair (excluding registered landlord).

Bob Murray

Committee Treasurer

Maintains an account of funds, expenditure and fundraising resources, interpreting financial data and keeping the committee informed.

Liaises with the appointed auditors to produce annual accounts.

Ensures compliance with any legal requirements and the principles of good financial governance regarding charity financial management.

Malcolm Burnage

Website Editor

Committee Officer and website administrator. Primary point of contact for website design, maintenance and development.

Ensures the ongoing security of the website.

Liaises with committee and general members to ensure all web based and social media communications and accounts are coordinated.

Arthur Robinson

Honorary President

Charity Co-Founder and Charity Shop Committee liaison.

Margaret Hill

Event Fundraiser

Liaises with the Events Organiser on fundraising events.

Julie McMorran

Newsletter Editor

Edits the seasonal Waggy Tales newsletter, managing contributions and writing articles.

Matt Thompson

Merchandise Co-ordinator

Purchases and controls the sales and rehoming stock.

As a charity run entirely by volunteers and donations, we would not have been able to continue for 20+ years without the generous support of our members and volunteers.

Our Charity Shop volunteers, dog fosterers, financial donors and commited DCGR charity members make the charity what it is today.

Without the amazing care given at the boarding kennels who look after the dogs as they wait for homes, our homeless hounds would be truly homeless and without all the wonderful greyhound adoptors we would have ceased long ago.

Annette Crosbie OBE

Actress Annette Crosbie is also a dedicated campaigner for greyhound welfare and has had 8 rescued greyhounds over 25 years. We are very honored to have Annette as our Patron.

Monty Halls

Patron

Television broadcaster and marine biologist Monty Halls has been supporting DCGR since he became our Patron in 2009. As a passionate dog rescuer and animal lover Monty especially recommends greyhounds as loving dogs and great company.

Maddy Prior MBE

Patron

Former Steeleye Span singer Maddy Prior has been a generous donor and Patron of DCGR, now living locally and running an Arts Centre in Cumbria. We are delighted to have her continued support.
