This year’s Great Global Greyhound Walk will take place in Dock Park, Dumfries on Sunday 24th September from 11am.

Last year 10,620 sighthounds simultaneously took part in 432 walks in 29 countries to promote greyhounds as family pets and raise awareness of the breed including the rehoming of ex-racing dogs. Our own walk attracted 42 greyhounds in 2023 including a wonderful opportunity for our current homeless greyhounds to strut their stuff and hopefully attract a forever home.

Let’s make a target for 50 hounds to join us this year… with your help.

The Walk is a gentle flat path along the banks of the River Nith towards Kingholm Quay and back to the park where there are cafe facilities, parking and children’s play areas with something to keep everyone entertained.

The theme is “flags” so let your imagination run free and decide whether you, your greyhound, or both represent your country or another country or even a flag of something else.

So please come along. The registration table will be set up by 10.30am on the 24th September at the entrance to Dock Park from the car park. The walk will start by 11.00 but you can still join us even if you don’t have a greyhound. We would love to meet you and perhaps one of our dogs looking for homes will catch your eye.
